Instructions for use of our Releaf Herbal Mixes

Our tea is a natural herbal blend with calendula, hemp and raspberry leaf as a base. The hemp naturally contains CBDA, which can be converted into CBD by heating.

We have 3 strengths in all our flavours:

  • The 'Original' contains more hemp and therefore more CBDA, which is naturally found in the plant, and is therefore more effective than our 'Mild' variant.
  • The 'Mild' variant contains less hemp and therefore has fewer active ingredients, but can be pleasant for people who are sensitive to CBD or CBDA.
  • The 'Light' version of our mixes contains no hemp and therefore no CBDA. Ideal for people who have no interest in this.

Below you can read how to make optimal use of our mixes.

  • 1. Add fat

Fatty products such as a dash of whole milk, a few drops of olive oil or coconut oil to your cup or teapot help with the absorption of CBD. Make sure the water stays between 70-90°C so that the CBD is activated and does not evaporate:

    • Bring water to the boil
    • Add a teaspoon of fat
    • Allow the water with fat to cool slightly , below 90°C, so that not too many active ingredients evaporate.
    • Add your favorite Releaf Mix and let it steep for 10-15 minutes.

    .

  • 2. Let it steep longer

Together with a little fat, this helps to improve the absorption and active functioning of the substances.

    .

Short steeping means less CBD extraction, especially without fats. Longer steeping gives more extraction but can leave a bitter taste.

So also try adding some honey, maple syrup, fresh ginger, lemon or mint!

    .

    • Low dose: 5-10 min
    • Average dose : 10-20 min
    • High dose : 20-30 min

    .

Read at the bottom of this page how to keep the tea at the right temperature for optimal effect.

  • Original

We are taking the average here, portions may vary. Here you see an estimated CBDA dosage per portion (1g) and steeping time, with a little fat, on a constant heat source between 70-90°C:

    • Low dose: 5-10 min
      ± 28 mg CBDA
    • Average dose : 10-20 min
      ± 32 mg CBDA
    • High dose : 20-30 min
      ± 37 mg CBDA
  • Mild

We use the same data from our 'Original' variant. Do you want to be exactly in between the mixes? Use more of the 'Mild' mix or less of the 'Original' mix. As you can see, you can also vary the time you let the tea steep to find the right balance for yourself.

    • Low dose: 5-10 min
      ± 5.6 mg CBDA
    • Average dose : 10-20 min
      ± 6.4 mg CBDA
    • High dose : 20-30 min
      ± 7.5 mg CBDA

How do you keep water between 70 and 90°C for steeping CBD tea?

Why is temperature important?

  • CBD is created by decarboxylation of CBDA , which occurs between 80-110°C .
  • CBD vaporizes at 160-180°C , so you want to stay below 110°C to avoid loss.
  • Too low temperatures (<70°C) do not fully activate the CBDA.

Ways to keep water warm:

1. Thermos (best method for tea)

  • Heat your water to 90-95°C and pour it into a thermos .
  • This ensures that your CBD dissolves slowly and effectively.

2. Au bain-marie method (for multiple cups of tea)

  • Place a heatproof bowl in a pan of hot water ( 80-90°C ).
  • Turn the heat to the lowest setting and do not let the water boil.
  • Let the tea steep for 20-30 minutes , so that the CBDA slowly converts into CBD.

3. Slow cooker (for large quantities of CBD tea)

  • Set a slow cooker to low (usually around 80-90°C).

For larger quantities, let the tea steep for at least 20-30 minutes for optimal conversion.

Possible side effects of CBDA tea:

In general, CBDA is considered safe and has few to no serious side effects. However, some people may be sensitive to certain effects. Here are some potential side effects to be aware of:

  • Mild stomach complaints : Especially with higher doses or a sensitive stomach. This can be reduced by drinking the tea together with food.
  • Drowsiness or relaxation: CBD(A) has a calming effect on some people. This is nice in the evening, but during the day it can make you a bit sluggish.
  • Slight drop in blood pressure : May occur, especially at higher doses. People with low blood pressure should take this into account.
  • Drug Interactions : CBD(A) may affect medications that are broken down by the liver (such as blood thinners or antidepressants). Consult a doctor if you are taking medications.

Suggestion for use:

If you are trying CBDA tea for the first time, you can start with a low dose, for example one cup per day, to see how your body reacts. If you do not experience any unwanted effects, you can slowly build up to several cups per day. If you do experience side effects, you can stop without any problem - there is no need to taper off. Above all, listen to your own body and choose an amount that feels comfortable for you
